As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
Jesus at the Temple
When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer’; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
Luke 19:41-48
Dear God,
Jesus approached Jerusalem and wept. He grieved for their unbelief and inability to recognize Him as the Prince of Peace and Son of God. He knew all that was to come then as He does today. Does it break Your heart that not much has changed? Are we living in the peace You offer daily or is our life filled with worry, regret, anger and angst? Are we consulting You in prayer in each step of our day or are we too caught up in chasing success, power, money or things? Are we reading our Bibles and learning from our Teacher or are we allowing this world to discredit You as if history was repeating itself. Father, come fill me with Your presence. Consume me with Your peace. Anoint me with Your spirit. When I see the world spinning out of control, You are my hope. You are my promise. You are my salvation. Remind us, Father, of Your great love and sacrifice and help us to walk through this life confident in Your victory. You defeated death for me. You opened heaven for me. You are all I need.
I love You, Papa
