Read Romans 5–7.

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:3–5

Dear God,
Thank you for your words. There is so much suffering in my list of intentions. It seems like every day my list grows longer, sadder, and more hopeless. Sometimes it feels so overwhelming that I feel it could swallow me whole. But then I read your words; great suffering leads to perseverance, perseverance builds character, and character leads to hope. We all need hope, Lord. I watch the people around me suffer, and I am blessed to know them for in their suffering, they have such a strong hope and faith in you. Bless them and heal them. Lord, help us to see that although their bodies may be sick and suffering, their souls are healthy and alive in you.
I love you, Papa.
