Read Romans 1–2.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. Romans 1:21–22
Dear God,
Search my heart, Lord, and forgive me for being foolish. Forgive me for the times that I have not glorified you. Forgive me for the times that I have not thanked you for all the blessings you have bestowed. Soften my heart, Lord, so I might receive all the love, mercy, forgiveness, grace, and comfort you provide for me daily. Hear my cries for all my intentions. I thank you, Lord, for giving me the gifts of all my intentions. Help me to learn from their suffering, their grace, their strength, and their gratitude. Help me to look to them as examples as I see how blessed they all are in your eyes. Thank you, God, for never, ever giving up on me.
I love you, Papa.
