Read Acts 15–16.
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once the prison doors flew open and everyone’s chains came loose.
Acts 16:25–27
The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
Acts 16:29–31
Dear God,
Thank you for giving us that command and promise. Your promises are always true, and because of your love, mercy, and forgiveness, not even an earthquake can harm us. In fact, sometimes the earthquakes we endure save us. Help us to be like Paul and Silas. Help us to pray and praise in all circumstances so that all the chains of this world come loose and we find the freedom that only you can provide. Today, I choose to worship, no matter what!
I love you, Papa.
