Read John 20:11-31
He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
John 20:15-16
Dear God,
You chose Mary to be the first to see you resurrected. Mary had issues. Mary was a sinner, yet you never gave up on her, and you loved her beyond measure. She was faithful despite her sins; she believed in you and loved you right back. Those facts alone give me so much hope. When you revealed yourself to her, she did not recognize you until you spoke her name. How many times do you pop into my life and I don’t recognize you? Do you ever call my name and I don’t hear? Lord, today I pray that my eyes are open to see you throughout my day, recognize you, and believe. I also pray for ears that listen and hear you call my name. Help me to respond to your call. I know you are always near. Help me to recognize you in my life, receive your blessings, and respond with the same love you have for me.
I love you, Papa.
