Read John 20:1-10
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”
So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
John 20:1-8
Dear God,
Mary Magdalene ran from the empty tomb to tell John and Peter what she found. Both Peter and John raced to the empty tomb. John arrived first but did not go in. Simon Peter (again reverting back to his former self & ways) entered in unbelief. Simon Peter had just denied Jesus 3 times. John just witnessed Jesus die an excruciating death on the cross. I understand why their brains couldn’t comprehend what was happening. What is our excuse when we know the end of the story? When we hear or see the empty tomb do we think You’ve abandoned us? Do we think someone took You from us or do we remember that You saved us by living, dying and rising from the dead? Everything You do or say is out of love. You are love. You are the way, the truth and the life for us. Thank You, Father, for loving us through our unbelief. Thank You for defeating death only to run back to us, Your kids, the ones You love more than anything.
I love You, Papa.
