Day 34 – A Lenten Journey through John
Read John 18:1-27
Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, “You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?”
He denied it, saying, “I am not.”
One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, “Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?” Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow. John 18:25-27
Dear God,
Simon Peter was afraid. He forgot all that You taught and told him in an instant and was swallowed by fear and worry which led him to deny You three times just like You said he would. The Peter You named who was so tough and so strong reverted back to his former Simon ways. You have pulled me through so many tough times and I have seen healing and miracles all around me. Forgive me for reverting to my old ways in fear and worry. You are my Prince of Peace. You gave me a new life and a new name, just like Peter. You used the cross to forgive all my sins. Help me, Father, to live boldly in that faith and not return to old patterns when life gets uncomfortable. Forgive me for the times I have denied You. You are my healer, my provider, my Savior, my defender, my redeemer, and my friend. You are in every moment of each day. Thank You, Papa, for never denying Your love for me.
I love You, Papa.
