Read John 16:1-15

“but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.” John 16:5-11

Dear God,
Two thousand years ago, the world was filled with sin, righteousness and judgment and it still is. I am always amazed at the fact that even though the world rejected You, You still died to save us. You took all the crushing judgment meant for me and everyone else in the world to defeat the devil, to defeat death and to give us a path to eternity with You. You loved Your disciples and they didn’t know the end of the story like we do. They were consumed with grief just hearing that You were leaving them. This world can make us feel so alone. With everything going on, sometimes You feel so far away and it can be easy to get swept away into the sea of grief, despair and sadness. Help us to hold fast to Your promises. Help us to hold tightly to Your sacrifice. Remind us today, Father, that You left this world to save us. Help me to hear Your voice calling me saying, “See, it’s even better than I promised!” Wipe our tears, Lord, open our eyes and let us see You make everything new.
I love You, Papa
