Read John 15:1-17
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:9–12
Dear God,
This world is in turmoil. There is so much anger, finger-pointing, righteousness, and judgment. In fear, people have turned against one another. Lord, help us to remember your command “Love one another as I have loved you.” You love us in our sin. You love us in our grief. You love us in our anger. You love us through our fears. You love us in spite of our opinions. Are we doing the same for each other? Soften our hearts, Lord, to look past all of this in our brothers and sisters and to love each other as you love us so that your joy may again be in us and we may be complete. Help us to recognize that our joy leaves us when we allow all other feelings and emotions to take control! I pray, in Jesus’s name, for love to be the center of all I do today so that my joy may be complete.
I love you, Papa.
