Read John 11:1-44
When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” John 11:32–36
Dear God,
We know the end of this story. Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave after being dead for four days, but I had missed the miracle in the story before his resurrection. This passage shows us how fully human Jesus was and is. He wept with Mary, Martha, and their family and friends. He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled by the loss of his friend. Jesus wept. Jesus loved. Jesus feels the same about each of us! He wants to resurrect each of us! Thank you, Lord, for being such a loving Father. Thank you for becoming fully human, for living, loving, weeping, hurting, and dying the most excruciating death all for me. What love.
I love you, Papa.
