Read John 2:1-15

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. John 2:6-11

Dear God,
You performed your first miracle in front of servants with six broken and dirty stone jars. The servants were the first to see your glory even before the disciples! Thank you for this consistent message that began at your birth in a dirty, smelly manger. The shepherds were the first to hear the news of your birth and now the servants got to see your first miracle in action! You use dirty and broken things and turn them into the extraordinary. You make yourself known to the poor, the downcast and the help. You make each of us feel like the most important, the most loved, the favorite. Thank you, Papa, for making me new by healing the broken parts of me. Thank you, Papa, for loving me despite my filth. Thank you, Papa, for filling me like that stone jar when I am empty. Thank you, Papa, for performing miracles every day that most people don’t even notice. Will I be one of those servants today astonished and excited by witnessing your glory or will I be a guest at the wedding just thinking that the wine is good? Give me eyes to see your glory, the hands of a servant and the faith and boldness to follow.

I love you, Papa.
