Read Genesis 30–33.
“Then the man said, ‘Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.’ Jacob said, ‘Please tell me your name.’ But he replied, ‘Why do you ask my name?’ Then he blessed him there.” (Genesis 32:28–29)
Dear God,
How many times are we struggling or wrestling with humans and not recognizing that it is you? How many times in our days, weeks, months, and years are you present in our lives, teaching, guiding, and strengthening us, and we miss it? Looking back, I now recognize you in so many situations, but things could have been so different if I had recognized you in the moment! Open my eyes, Lord! Search my heart and find whatever I am wrestling. Come, Holy Spirit, and teach me, guide me, and even wrestle with me so that I may recognize you in my life in that moment and be blessed.
I love you, Papa.
