Meditate on verses 1-8

Dear God,
How quickly we forget Your words and lose faith in Your promises! The days after Your crucifixion were dark. Your disciples didn’t know the end of the story like we do. They thought darkness had won. They had given up their lives, their livelihoods, hung on all Your words, followed You and learned from You only to be left in excruciating grief questioning all that had just happened. They thought it was over. They felt abandoned in deep disappointment forgetting the very words they had clung to just days before! It took two angels to “wake up” the women who then initiated the chain of events of Your return to Your beloved disciples and to us. You looked different to them. They didn’t recognize You at first and they still doubted. It must have been so hard for their minds to reconcile Your resurrection after witnessing Your horrible crucifixion! “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, he has risen!” Help me to remember those words today, Papa. Help me to see You throughout this day. Allow me to recognize You in the people You place in my path. Enable me to be conscious of Your presence in every situation and conversation. Thank You, Jesus, for your birth, Your life and Your death. Thank You for loving and ransoming me to Your very last breath so You could return to save me. Thank You for being my bridge to eternity. Thank You for taking on my sin so I could escape it! Thank You for being my hope, my life, my voice, my Papa and my friend. Thank You for Your glorious light that has transformed my life.

I love You, Papa.
