Meditate on verses 15-17
Dear God,
There is nothing more precious than the innocence of a child. They are curious, expressive, eager to learn, not afraid to try new things, completely dependent, trusting, obedient, playful and love with their whole body and soul. They exude joy, enthusiasm and excitement in all they do. They look at their parents with awe, wonder and love. Their parents are their whole world and their simplistic honesty, caring nature and laughter fills any heart witnessing it. Sometimes they are shy and cling to their parents for reassurance and sometimes the smallest frustration can send them into a tantrum only to be comforted by mom or dad. A hug and kiss from mom or dad can fix anything and they begin anew and refreshed. When do we lose this? When and why does the world start chipping away at these qualities? God wants us to get back to our childlike selves. He wants us to look to Him like we did our parents when we were young. Are we curious, expressive, eager to learn completely dependent, trusting, obedient, playful, loving, honest, joyful and full of laughter? Do we look to our Heavenly Father for comfort and reassurance when things don’t go our way? Help us to get back to that place. Help us to peel off the layers of disappointment, resentment, fear, insecurity, hurt, anger and shame that this world has put in place to allow our inner child to shine. “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Today, Papa, I will find the little girl within me who has missed You so much. I will let her love, learn and play for Your glory with no limits. With the eyes of a child, I will see this world with a new perspective, and I will see my Heavenly Father with open arms waiting for me to start running home to Him.
I love You, Papa.
