Read Luke 9
Meditate on verses 44-48
Dear God,
I read these verses and actually laughed. So many years have passed, but we sure haven’t changed! We marvel at Your works from afar. You tell us something very important that we don’t understand, but we don’t ask You for clarification. Then we argue with each other about who among us is the greatest! Forgive us, Father, for our pettiness and our silliness. Help me to go back to my childhood self, completely dependent upon my earthly father, listening and believing in his every word and gazing at him with eyes of awe and wonder because I loved him so. Help me to look at You that way. Children in the Bible and even now sometimes are treated as insignificant. Thank You for showing us that greatness is not about status, position, gender, age or genealogy but rather about serving others. Help me today to serve with the heart of a child so that I might welcome all I encounter who have been deemed insignificant by either the world or themselves. By doing this, Father, I welcome You into my heart and am welcomed, embraced, loved, forgiven and freed by You. Thank You for the gift of serving others.
I love You, Papa.
