Meditate on verses 11-20
Dear God,
Time and time again, 365 times to be exact, You say, “Do not be afraid!” in the Bible. You also instruct us to trust, but most days we live in fear and doubt! In this first chapter of Luke, Gabriel is bringing good news and Zechariah still fears and doubts. He says, “How can I be sure of this?” and the angel takes away his voice because of his unbelief. I always looked at this act as a punishment, but was it? When we cannot speak, we are forced to listen, to observe our surroundings and to think! When we can’t feed into the noise and chaos, clarity emerges. When Zechariah couldn’t speak, he realized that he had been placed in a holy moment with the Lord himself and doubted it! Help me today, Father, to listen, to trust and to understand that You are the author of my life. Take my voice when I believe I know better! There are many things in this world that I am not sure of, but You are not one of them. During this upcoming Season of Advent, give me patience to wait for all that You have in store for my life. Give me wisdom to listen to only Your voice and give me the ability to trust and believe in Your plan. Help me, Lord, to not miss even one holy moment in Your presence.
I love You, Papa.
